JAKARTA - The BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016 becomes Carsten Morgensen's first performance after his surgery due to bloodvessel constriction in a part of his right brain. The 32 year old badminton player is optimistic he can give his high level performance with his partner Mathias Boe at the US$ 900 thousand dollar tournament.

As known before, Mogensen was found unconscious in a hotel during qualifying round at the Thomas Cup in Kazan, Russia, last February. he was diagnosed having a blood vessel constriction in the right part of the brain. He is considered lucky to be able to survive.

At a press conference, Monday, (30/5), Mogensen said he is fine now and having had normal training sessions since one and a half months. He is confident to be able to display high level performance, the same level with what the Indonesia's second seeded, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, whom he will probably face in the quarter final.

"We want to play immediately, We still keep on practicing and now it has been one and a half months. It is getting better everyday. I don't know if my performance will be as good as it was since it can only be seen in the next match," Morgensen said.

Mogensen/Boe will undergo their initial match at the Indonesian Open 2016 by playing against China's doubles, Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen, Wednesday (1/6). If he wins, he will take on the emerging winner of a match between Belgium's pair, Matijs Dierickx/Freek Golinski and Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda from Japan in the second round. If anything goes as planned until the second round, he will probably face Indonesia's second seeded, Hendra/Ahsan in quarter final.

Mogensen added he doesn't feel anything different. Although experiencing nightmare in Russia, he stands on his firm feet which he had been worried we wouldn't be able to.
