The first game was hard fought with dominating points race showed by the players. The set was tough as they were equally scoring 6-6, 13-13 and 15-15 before Febe managed to steal the game, 21-17.
“The first game, I was able to cope with the wind at the stadium and I could control where it was coming from, and where I was going to aim the shuttlecock to my opponent,” Febe said.
Febe performed confidently in the second game. The former PBSI national training camp in Cipayung succeeded in keeping the lead until reaching the second interval 11-2 result, before finally stunned her opponent with convincing 21-4 win.
“The opponent on the other hand had difficulty to control the wind in the second game, she inaccurately aimed the shuttlecock and resulted in blunder,” Febe added.
Having her quarter final ticket, it has exceeded target set by the player who was born in Boyolali, Central Java, September 30m 1989. Moreover, Febe admitted she is ready to face whoever her opponent will be.
“At this tournament, I just want to be the last man standing in women’s singles category. It is surely a positive thing since it gives me motivation. As for the next match, I am ready to give the best,” Febe said.
In tomorrow’s quarterfinal, Friday (5/6), Febe is still waiting either Yui Hashimoto (Japan) who takes on compatriot Minatsu Mitani to be her next opponent.
Indonesia still has chances to send one representative to quarterfinal in women’s singles through Lindaweni Fanetri who faces Taiwanese Tai Tzu Ying (Taiwan).
