JAKARTA - Jonatan Christie said he was pleased enough with his performance to be able to defeat Hsu Jen Hao from Taiwan. Performing at Senayan and with his supporters, Jojo, Jonatan is often called, won two game straight, 21-12, 21-19, Wednesday, (1/6).

Actually, Jojo led significantly from his Taiwan opponent. Unfortunately, his strategy change allowed his opponent to catch up.

"I am quite pleased with my performance. But in the second set I was a bit vulnerable. It was when I changed my strategy, he instead took an advantage of it," Jojo said.

Jojo claimed he could analyze his opponent's strategy. He said his opponent doesn't fit with the heavier shuttlecock type since the
opponent is a "rallies" player who is not favorable in a rapid paced match.

"I had designed my strategy. Frankly, I was a bit in a rush in the second game and committed mistakes while he was playing better," he explained.

Next, Jojo will face the China's third seeded Lin Dan who has just qualified to the seocnd round after stunning Malaysia's Zulfadli Zulkifli in the first round. Jojo wanted to achieve what he did last year, be in the semifinal at the BIOSSP 2015.

"This will become my personal challenge. I am now being benefited by the supporters and the shuttlecock's type. He (Lin Dan) is a complete player and worth to be aware of. He is a tough player and I have to discuss with my coach to find the right strategy," he said on his next match against Lin Dan in the second round.

He's evaluating that he should be braver and not be afraid of whoever will stand on his way. He must find ways to be applied on the court if plan A doesn't work well.
