Unpredictably, Greysia/Nitya were stunned by Malaysian pair, Vivian Kah Mun Hoo/Woon Khe Wei with 17-21 and 19-21.
“We take this defeat with open heart since we were not entirely 100% fit. Not a scapegoat, but that was how we felt. We had been experiencing this before the tournament began, but we didn't want to let Indonesia down by skipping this tournament,” said Greysia.
“We didn't perform our best performance. My right thigh muscle was cramp. And Nitya was not entirely recovered from her right knee injury. We wanted to give the best but on the other hand the Malaysian pair was not an easy opponent. We have had win some lose some when playing against them," she added.
The Malaysian pair, Vivian/Woon, took an advantage of Greysia/Nitya's condition. They were able to steal points and press Greysia/Nitya's defense nearly the whole match. “I knew Nitya was injured and we kept on aiming our attack to her,” said Hoo.
“We were left behind but we could bring back our focus. Greysia/Nitya were not performing at their best," Woon said.
