For the host, this event is one of the main targets to win a title in 2017. Although the target is expected coming from two mainstay sectors, men's doubles and mixed doubles, this is by no means that the other sectors are not taken into account.
Indeed, Indonesian women's single has not been able to show a decent-enough achievement at the Superseries and Superseries Premier level tournament. However, Minarti Timur, Indonesia Badminton Association women's singles coach of PBSI, keeps thinking positively and expecting her players are able to emerge with surprises.
"It's true that their ranks are poles apart from their opponents. Yes, like it or not they should come up with upsets," she said.
"Hopefully everything is good for Fitriani, Hanna Ramadini, and Dinar Dyah Ayustine, they can peform with the best ability, and I hope the full support from the crowds can assist them, at least in stunning their opponents in the first round. Whoever is more ready, then they will likely to win,"added Minarti.
In the first round tomorrow, Tuesday (13/6) Fitriani will take on Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi. Hanna will face the USA player, Zhang Beiwen while Dinar will challenge the fifth-seeded Korean, Sung Ji Hyun.
