It is still fresh in the memory of Indonesian badminton fans that BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIO) 2016 meant the continuation of title drought and the trend has not been changed since 2014.

The highest achievement that the Indonesian team attained was last year when the only Indonesian player, Ihsan Maulana, reached semifinal before he was halted by Malaysian player, Lee Chong Wei with 9-21 and 18-21.

Ihsan hopes that BIO SSP 2017 at Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), from June 12 to June 18, 2017, will bring him to a similar result he achieved last year although he had to fight from the qualifying round.

"Surely the willingness to reach semifinal is there, but I will focus on one match a time since my target at BIO is to perform well in every match," said Ihsan to Djarum Badminton.

Ihsan will take on Hong Kong Wei Nan as his first opponent at BIO this year. Both of them met once at 2016 Malaysia Masters, and he had to surrender to Wei, 18-21 and 15-21.

If Ihsan can overcome Wei, he will fight for the main round against the winner of a match played by Sony Dwi Kuncoro from Indonesia and Japan's Kazuma Sakai.

Ihsan himself has never encountered Sony on the court, while Kazuma and Ihsan once won at 2015 Japan Open.

"Every opponent is tough, but I just want to think positively, what matters the most is to fight hard in every match, " he ended.
