Less than 20 days the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2017 (BIO2017) will begin. Taking place at Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), this tournament will be held from June 12 to June 18, 2017.

In the tournament which world top players are required to participate, around 310 players from 21 countries are confirmed to take parts in the 1 million us dollar (13.5 billion IDR) tournament.

For the home team, a 3 year title drought is a reason to expect achievement this year end.

The last time red and white team presenting a title at BIO SSP was in 2013 via men doubles, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, after stunning South Korea's Ko Sung Hyun/ Lee Yong Dae.

Three years later none of the red and white players could achieve the same thing in front of the Indonesian badminton fans at Istora Senayan.

In 2014, the best accomplishment Indonesia could achieve was presented by Ahsan/Hendra. Unfortunately, they both were unable to defend the title after losing in final from Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon-seong.

Although Indonesia's women's doubles, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii, could emerge upset by going through the final in 2015, they didn't manage to succeed in presenting a title after stunned by Chinese Tang Jinhua/Tian Qing.

In 2016, hoe team's achievement was even worse due to the absence of Indonesia envoy in final round. To make things worse, there was only one player who could breach the semifinal, he was Ihsan Maulana Mustofa (men's single) who eventually had to surrender from the best player at the time, Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia.

In 2017, the home team chances to be the best and be able to end title drought are wide open. The competition is equal and this should be considered as a motivation for the home team players so that they are not afraid to fight against whoever they may take on.

In men's single, the trio Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and Ihsan Maulana Mustofa are expected to perform optimally especially they got Anthony who several days ago overcame third world's best player from Denmark, Viktor Axelsen, in men's single elimination round Group 1D Sudirman Cup 2017. This will be a positive gesture to boost his self-confidence.

Although we have to admit that women's single has a tough competition, we must be optimistic since nothing is impossible, especially the performance of one of the red and white team players, Fitriani, was shining in the last few tournaments.

The most realistic expectation lies in men's doubles. World's number one pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo have the most chances to attain the best results at BIO SSP event this time.

It is because since the beginning of 2017, Marcus/Kevin have only been defeated twice; in the semifinal of Singapore Open Super Series and elimination round Group 1D Sudirman Cup when they played against Danish team pair couple days ago. Previously, the pair always won. In fact, they scored three winning streak at All England Open, India Open, and Malaysia Open 2017.

In women's doubles, players like Della Destiara Haris/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari, Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah/Rizki Amelia Pradipta, Anggia Shitta Awanda/Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istarani, and a new duo Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu remain the spearhead to give the best for their country.

While in mixed doubles, the 2016 Rio Olympic gold medalists, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir said they would fight along with Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto and others at this year's BIO SSP 2017 to present the best results.
