This is their 11th meeting, Akane was forced to let the first game from her winning agenda into the hands of Okuhara, 15-21. As the game changed set, Akane also changed the game pattern and a played a bit aggressively. The result was triumph in the second game although she won a close victory, 21-19. Realized having the momentum, Akane instantly sped up the tempo. The third game was owned by Akane and she won 21-15.
"I'm happy to win this today's match, but the game was less than what I expected. Indeed. I didn't have the urge to win in the first game. I was only in the second and third game I played more patient than Okuhara," Akane said after the match.
With this victory, Akane automatically qualifies for the quarter-finals on Friday (16/7). However, Akane is still waiting for the winner of a matched played between Sayaka Sato against lee Chia Hsin. Until this story is being written, they have not started the match.
"So I am still waiting for the next opponent. There is a possibility that I will take on my compatriot. I want to practice more. The opportunity could still be there or it is not there at all. But I promise to do better. My toughest opponent is Tai Tzu Ying," said Akane.
